Solo #40
(Français & English) Super! (heroes)
Hi! Bonjour !
In English: Superheroes games’ selection
Transcript with links
There are not a lot of superheroic solo TTRPGs. You can of course play to a game with shared topic (such as powers, saving people, etc.) and add by yourself a Super-skin on this. But… let’s focus on games already made in Superheroic settings! Here’s my selection:
(It’s all journaling games)
5-min-heroes is great to quickly create a superhero with cool power, base and their usual enemies. Link: 5-minute-heroes by Marc Strocks
5-min-superhero is shorter even (not really but it’s available as a business-card-size). Less prompts there but you could be an alien! 5-min-superhero by Azukail Games
Waypoint is a city full of superheroes. Roll on prompts to know what happens but beware! Rolling too many times on same prompts and you’ll end up as a supervillain. Waypoint by Mypsilan
Do No Harm is about healing… supervillains! Still need a bit clarifications in rules (what’s the villains’ deck?) but pretty cool idea setting! Do No Harm by Comprehensible
A Superhero’s Journey is your journey alongside your sidekick. At first I thought there were not enough table event prompts… then read about the smart retirement rule! A Superhero’s Journey by Lucky Newt Games
Golden Oldies makes you play a former WW2 Superhero, being a mentor for the New Generation and thinking about memories and… maybe retirement? Golden Oldies by Historical Killer Queen
Beyond Super is a longer game about the ‘’life behind the mask’’ to think about the hidden daily life (the civil one). Beyond Super by Max Kämmerer
Hero Too is also about the ‘’behind the mask’’ life, except the mask is gender identity. You’re a (trans) student at superhero school and will come out on last day. Hero Too by Maria Fanning: first version (the one I own and played to) / rebooted edition (more expansive)
Origin Story is for you if you prefer to journal with blocktower and card deck. This tower is used to balance your non-heroic life versus your Super one. Origin Story by Meghan Cross
Dreamer Superheroes sounds pretty cool, using tarot deck and dreams. If your remember them, please try this and let me know (as I can’t!) Dreamer: Superheroes by Maria Maschi
I hope you enjoy this selection! Oh, wait:
You can also try my own superheroic game, at the time of witches: NWJS No Witches Just Superheroes (in a InDie Zine issue)
Off-topic: Cute dark mystery gamejam project
Few weeks ago, Reve Lab said me hi and asked for my contribution in their incoming gamejam project. Well, they finaly already had an illustrator aiming to do the whole thing. Also I needed sleep. But I will definitly follow their next ideas, they sound to be sweet cool people. Look at what they made: a cute weird game you’ll love: revelab.itch.io/secret
Music, Kryptonite!
